Kingaroy Golf Club Sick Koala Policy
In the event of an unwell koala on the golf course, the following steps are to be followed.
1. In the first instance, report the sighting to the clubhouse manager, or a member of the Management Committee. Note the location on the golf course, and whether the koala is unreachable in a tree, reachable in a tree, or on the ground.
2. If the koala is on the ground, or in a tree in an easily reachable position, call the practice of the vet Steve Upton, who has advised he will treat sick koalas for free if they are brought to him. Cover the koala with a blanket (to avoid personal injury), and place it in a suitable container eg a strong cardboard box. Take the koala to Steve Upton’s veterinary practice.
3. If the koala is unreachable eg up in a tree, call the Sunshine Coast Koala Wildlife Rescue on 0423 618 740 or 0431300729 for assistance.
4. If no assistance is available from the above, call Wildlife Rescue South Burnett on 0499682908.
